Praise for medics from Barnsley defender Adam Jackson after injury at Hull

Jackson was hurt just before half-time during Tuesday night’s Sky Bet Championship 1-1 draw and, following a stoppage of more than 10 minutes, had to be taken off on a stretcher.

Toral was able to walk off unaided, but suffered a jaw injury which saw him substituted.

A statement from Barnsley revealed Jackson was soon “sat up talking” after being assessed.

“The club can confirm that following the match, Jackson was treated well by Barnsley Football Club’s and Hull City’s medical staff along with the paramedics at the ground, and he regained consciousness quickly,” it read.

“Following the match, Jackson was sat up talking to his team-mates and family whilst still in the medical room at the KCOM Stadium.”

The statement added: “Adam would like to thank everyone for the well wishes he has received, along with the medical staff of Hull City and the paramedics who were at the scene.”

Barnsley chief Jose Morais had offered his support to Jackson as he spoke to the media following the match.

“I was so sorry for that to happen to him. I’m sorry because it’s the health of a player and you get concerned about these situations,” he said.

“I’m sorry again because he really wanted to be on the pitch until the end of the game, but I am happy now because everything seems to be good.

“It looks like he is back to being healthy. I have had a chat with him and seen him smiling and eating (pizza).

“It makes me feel that he is now okay and I am happy for that.

“Our medical staff were excellent, they got on to see Adam straight away and helped him to regain consciousness.

“We will keep looking at Adam closely over the coming days and make sure he is okay, he is an important player for us.”
