Wins for Yorkshire Carnegie, Doncaster Knights and Rotherham Titans

Two tries each for Rob O’Donnell and the returning Stevie McColl proved decisive along with one for captain Ryan Burrows.

McColl’s effort was even more impressive given that he sustained a dead leg in the opening ten minutes and continued until the 70th before being replaced by Alex Gray.

Redpath said: “I think any five-point win is good and I think there were stages of the game when we had real control and I think it was just the last ten minutes where we were lacking.”

Doncaster Knights’ confident start to the new campaign which has produced three wins in four league games is gradually creating a repeat of last season’s success when they contested the promotion play-offs.

On Saturday they defeated Bedford Blues 30-22.

Knights’ coach Clive Griffiths, who watched his side claim a maximum of five points in his 150th game in charge at the Castle Park club, is inevitably pleased with the progress being made, but will not be satisfied until his squad take all the scoring opportunities which present themselves.

Griffiths’s team scored four top-class tries through backs Dougie Flockhart, Mat Clark and Paul Jarvis and flanker Latu Makaafi against an enterprising Bedford team who have surprisingly still to win.

And Rotherham Titans were made to work hard as they recorded their second win of the season with a dogged 18-8 victory over Richmond at the Athletic Ground.
