Doncaster Knights and Yorkshire Carnegie will face each other at least four times next season.

The 2018-19 Championship fixture list has been revealed with Doncaster visiting Cornish Pirates and Carnegie journeying to Hartpury RFC on the opening weekend over August 31 to September 2.

Later, they face each other at Castle Park on the weekend of December 29 and at Emerald Headingley around April 13.

However, the derby rivals are also due to meet in the inaugural Championship Cup having been placed in a pool with promoted Coventry and Nottingham.

Following the decision of the Championship clubs to withdraw from the British & Irish Cup, for the next two campaigns, clubs will feature in the new competition which follows a league cup format and encourages local derbies.

For its inaugural term, teams will be split into three pools based on clubs’ geographic locations and will play across six rounds.

The pool stage fixtures are scheduled in one block and will be played before Christmas allowing clubs to focus on the Championship Cup consistently over a six-week period.

The top two teams from each pool together with the two best runners-up across the three pools will all proceed to the quarter-finals which will be followed by the semi-finals and a final which will take place in May next year.
