Sarich expects tougher tests for Steelers

Defenceman Rod Sarich expects life to get tougher for Sheffield Steelers after they produced a scintillating opening weekend.

Ben Simon's team plundered 11 goals in opening weekend victories over Cardiff Devils and Dundee Stars and face both teams again this weekend with former NHL forward Rob Globke expected to have arrived in time to make his debut.

But Sarich, who returned to action for the first time since January after recovering from a broken foot, believes both matches will not be as comfortable this time around.

"A good start was important and yes, we've taken good steps by winning the first two games, but realistically the matches are only going to get tougher," said Sarich in his online blog for the Yorkshire Post.

"Even this week, when we face the same teams again, the games are likely to be a lot closer.

"It's always tough to win in Cardiff's small rink and generally both teams will be more organised with another week's training under their belts.

"But, then again, we should be too."

Although former Florida Panthers' winger Globke arrived in the UK yesterday after having his visa issued and later trained with his new team-mates at Sheffield Arena, fellow forward Derek Campbell, who contributed 42 points including 15 goals for Coventry Blaze last season, is still to arrive.
