Scims endure further disappointment

IT was another weekend of 'what might have been' for Sheffield Scimitars after pickming up just the one point in the EPL.

After being ahead on a number of occasions, Jon Rowbotham's side were edged out 7-6 by Guildford Flames following a shoot-out at Ice Sheffield on Saturday before losing out to league leaders MIK Lightning 5-2 24 hours later.

On home ice, James Archer and Mark Stewart (2) were on target against an in-form Flames to give the home side a 3-2 first period lead.

Nick Poole equalised for Lightning at 25.30 but, just over six minutes later, the visitors were back in front through Matt Haywood.

The Lightning came out fast in the third and, on the powerplay, sdrew level 40 seconds in through Monir Kalgoum.
