Scims look to find winning way

SHEFFIELD SCIMITARS will look to make the most of home comforts this weekend as they attempt to get their season back on track.

In order to end a run of five straight defeats, Scimitars must do it the hard way, welcoming EPL leaders Milton Keynes Lightning to Ice Sheffield on Saturday night (7.30pm).

It was only less than two weeks ago that Jon Rowbotham's seventh-placed team came away from their trip to South Row on the back of a 5-2 defeat.

The Lightning's previous visit to South Yorkshire saw them edge a nine-goal thriller. But a chink in the Milton Keynes armour was discovered last weekend when a 4-2 defeat at third-placed Guildford Flames ended their 14-game winning run.

On Sunday, bottom club Romford Raiders will pay a visit to Scimitars in the last regular season meeting between the two sides.

Scimitars hold a 4-1 advantage in the series so far, the last meeting in January producing their most emphatic triumph when they came away from Essex on the back of an 8-2 victory.
