Sedgley Park 28 Otley 3: Disappointing Otley produce worst display of the season as Sedgley storm to easy victory

Poor Otley produced their weakest display of the season so far at a ground where they have normally prospered and were looking for some return on this occasion.

They had the pace and precision lacking in Sedgley Park's approach play but again contrived to dissipate this advantage with a lack of vision at the vital moment and were made to pay the price.

There was an early alarm when No 8 Juan Crous picked up at a scrum to break 40m into the Otley 22 before being held – he was to be troublesome all afternoon – but the ball was moved out only for the hosts to muck up a two-man overlap with a forward pass.

Fly-half Will Nelson failed with a penalty chance and Sedgley Park took the lead on 35 minutes when poor tackling allowed winger Simon Parrot through, his inside pass putting scrum-half Chris Wilkinson over for winger Stephen Nutt to convert.

With wind advantage and home lock Tom Holmes in the sin-bin Otley hoped to prosper after the break only to let Parrot get in at the corner, Nutt adding a fine conversion.

A spell of pressure gained a penalty under the posts for Nelson but they missed endless opportunities and sure enough they suffered.

A flip-pass was intercepted and Nutt raced in from half-way and the winger was able to grab another ill-directed pass to steal another two minutes later, crowning his day by converting both.
