Sharpshooter Tendler back for more at Hull

HULL STINGRAYS’ player-coach Sylvain Cloutier wants to provide a suitable “supporting cast” to leading man Jereme Tendler after the club’s top goalscorer agreed to return for a second Elite League season.

The 27-year-old has scored a club record 47 goals this season, including four hat-tricks as well as a league record 11 short-handed strikes. Cloutier, who leads his team into the final weekend of the regular season with home games against Edinburgh Capitals and Nottingham Panthers, sees Tendler as an integral part of his roster.

“It’s big news for the club that Jereme has agreed to come back,” said Cloutier. “I knew he would score plenty of goals when I brought him in, but there is so much more to his game than that.

“Other teams would have liked him but he loves it here, he loves living in Hull, and he’s stayed loyal to the club. Having him back will help us move forward and build on what we have achieved. I want to build the team around him and give him a supporting cast.”

Hull – who have already secured a seventh-place finish in the table – will find out who their play-off opponents are once the three-way battle for the regular season title between Sheffield, Cardiff and Belfast is decided on Sunday.
