Sheffield United v Coventry City: Pride before a fall is key for Blades

Championship: KEVIN BLACKWELL accepts that some of his Sheffield United players will not want to risk injury in the final games of the season.

The Blades, who have missed out on the play-offs, have 15 players out of contract or coming to the end of short-term deals.

Blackwell said: "We have nine out of contract, six loanees, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that there will be one or two who will have to look after themselves. I accept that.

"They know that they cannot afford to get injured and be out of contract at this time. It's an absolutely crucial time to be fit and available for work with a prospective employer."

Today's home game against Coventry City is the club's final game before next weekend's Sheffield derby but Blackwell says his players will be motivated by 'pride' regardless of the opposition.
