Silver Concorde is all set to take flight

Thompson’s star colt recently took the three-year-olds’ runner-up spot at the recent Baileys Horse Feeds/BEF Futurity Eventing Championship Finals.

The competition was held at the Lycetts British Eventing Young Horse Championships in Osberton, Nottingham, with Thompson invited to bring Pennineview Silver Concorde after he achieved a top score at the BEF Futurity Evaluations in August.

The evaluations aim to identify British-bred young potential sport horses and ponies destined for careers in dressage, eventing, show-jumping or endurance, and may even find the Olympic champions of the future.

Pennineview Silver Concorde took a Higher First premium of 8.67 at the Richmond Futurity which qualified him for the finals at which he took the runners-up spot in his age group.

Pennineview Silver Concorde is by Z Concorde, out of a Silver Wizard mare called Silver Squirrel.

Jan Rogers – the head of equine development for the BEF – believes a bright future for the three-year-old is assured.

“The Futurity is showing itself to be an assessment system which British breeders value, because it enables them to demonstrate, long before a horse is able to compete, that it has performance potential,” said Rogers.

“It is serving as a valuable marketing tool for British breeders and we are delighted that so many people want to be part of it.

“We are grateful to the team at Osberton for providing the 
Futurity with this opportunity to present its top eventing horses at a national young horse eventing festival.”

Hambleton stars Bryan and Vicky Smart will hold an evening discussing the Retraining Of Racehorses on Wednesday, November 14.

The ROR event will be held at the Golden Fleece in Thirsk so that the married couple can accommodate larger numbers.

Tickets cost £10 with Vicky still basking in the success of this year’s Horse Of The Year Show in which Roger’s Revenge was crowned champion.

The British Horse Society will stage their South Yorkshire annual general meeting on Friday at Pastures Lodge, Mexborough, starting at 7pm. The meeting will be followed by a Glebefield Riding for the Disabled Race Night with a Pie and Pea supper from 7.30pm.
