Typically, the British weather in January did not let them survey all three routes that will make up the second staging of the Tour de Yorkshire from April 29 to May 1.

NFTO, led by Keighley-raised director-sportif Tom Barras and including Leeds cyclist Josh Edmondson, invited Yorkshire Post photographer Bruce Rollinson out with them on Thursday as they attempted to combat the heavy rain on the road from Otley to Doncaster.

Also this week they rode sections of the third stage from Middlesbrough to Scarborough.

The first stage runs from Beverley to Settle.
