Sporting pact signed with Brazil

AN OFFICIAL agreement has been signed between the Brazilian Ministry of Sport and Sheffield Hallam University, which could see staff and students working at future events including the football World Cup in 2014 and the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in four years’ time.

The collaboration will mean Brazilian elite athletes will benefit from sports psychology, physiotherapy, physiology and technology analysis that the university is renowned for providing to elite athletes in the UK.

Brazilian sports minister Aldo Rebelo said: “Sheffield Hallam has achieved a huge amount in disciplines related to sport, with recognized excellence in the UK and internationally.

“I believe that Brazil has much to learn from the university’s experience, especially as we prepare for two major events.”
