Dunnington showed that last week’s defeat by Queens was a minor stumble in their march towards the Allam Marine Yorkshire Premier Squash League title as they stormed to the trophy with a 20-0 clean sweep at Heaton.
The York club, who suffered a surprise 17-7 home loss to Queens when they needed only 14 points to lift the trophy for the second time, put that setback behind them in devastating fashion in Bradford.
World No 23 Chris Simpson, world No 37 Shaun Le Roux, Gareth Lumsden, Matt Marshall and Matt Stephenson all registered straight-games victories to earn Dunnington their 14th win of the season from 18 matches.
Queens and Hallamshire had the same win-loss ratio, but the York club clinched the title by virtue of scoring more points.
They finished 18 ahead of Queens, who sealed second place by 12 points from Hallamshire after a 19-3 home success against second-bottom Hull and East Riding.
James Earles, newly-crowned English Under-19 Boys’ champion Pat Rooney, Matt Sidaway and world No 15 Madeline Perry led the Halifax outfit to their fifth consecutive win with 3/0 victories.
Hull’s solitary winner was Glyn Saunders, who edged past Connor Sheen 3-2 at fourth string.
