Sweet dreams allow Hammill time to improve

Reading v Barnsley

BARNSLEY winger Adam Hammill is on fire this season – thanks to an extra hour in bed.

Hammill finally moved to the Barnsley area this summer after protests from manager Mark Robins over his daily commute from Liverpool.

Now the Scouser, 22, is attracting scouts from the Premier League to Oakwell and playing a key role in his own club’s push for the play-offs.

Speaking ahead of today’s trip to Reading, Hammill said: “The penny is finally starting to drop for me and, hopefully, I’m beginning to fulfil my potential.

“The gaffer told me that I needed to be nearer Oakwell and it’s been a good move for me. I certainly enjoy getting to have a bit of a lie-in before home matches. It is flattering to be the focus of some top flight clubs but why can’t my ambition be realised here? We can compete with anyone in this division.”

Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, and West Ham United are among those watching Hammill.
