Swift in the hunt as Team Sky dominate Tour of California

Ben Swift remains in the hunt for his first Grand Tour victory after his New Zealand team-mate Greg Henderson became the second Team Sky rider in two days to win a stage of the Amgen Tour of California after crossing the line first in Modesto.

After Yorkshireman Swift won stage two - stage one was cancelled due to inclement weather - Henderson triumphed in a sprint finish ahead of Juan Jose Haedo (Team Saxo Bank-Sungard) and world champion Thor Hushovd (Team Garmin-Cervelo) to assume the race leader’s golden jersey from his team-mate.

Stage four from Livermore to San Jose includes a climb to the finish and is likely to see movement in the general classification.
