Saint, 45, was just 1-05 behind overall event winner, Keith Murray (Ferryhill Wheelers) from Darlington.

Other Yorkshire riders featuring in the top 10 included Bridlington CC’s Andrew Askwith, the 46-year-old Driffield rider, who clocked 56-58 for seventh, while Harrogate 36-year-old Richard Hamilton (Yorkshire Velo) was ninth with 57-24.

In bunched racing, Yorkshire riders dominated the podium in the latest circuit race to be staged at the Darley Moor Circuit, near Ashbourne in Derbyshire.

Sheffield’s Danny Lowthorpe took victory, the 46-year-old Rutland CC rider sprinting home ahead of his breakaway rival Oli Wood, the 15-year-old Aire Valley RT rider from Wrenthorpe.

The pair were part of a seven-rider break which went off the front of the bunch early in the race.

But they attacked again, leaving the remains of the leading group to fight for third spot and Wood’s team-mate and fellow junior, 15-year-old Jake Womersley from Mirfield, won that battle.
