Ticket sales already reach the £1m mark

Advance ticket sales for the Betfair World Championship have broken the £1m barrier for the first time in its history.

Ronnie O’Sullivan cues off his defence of the title he won last year at the Crucible this morning against Marcus Campbell.

This week World Snooker
released a limited number of extra tickets, which were left over from the allocations reserved to the 32 players.

“We have had unprecedented demand for tickets this year and we have broken the £1m barrier on sales for the first time,” said a World Snooker spokesman.

“We are trying to make as many tickets as possible available in order to meet demand, which is why we are releasing any left over from allocations to partners and players on to general sale.

“There is a real buzz about the build-up to the Championship this year and many millions of fans around the world are counting down the days until it begins.

“Those lucky enough to be able to go to the Crucible and be a part of it should take the chance.

“Many of the sessions over the 17 days are sold out, but there is still the opportunity to see some matches involving the very best players on the planet.”
