Titans set for tough test from leaders

Rotherham Titans have won three and drawn one of their last four games, ending their road woes in the process with a hard-earned draw at Nottingham two weeks ago.

But leaders Welsh have been beaten only once and Bester warned: “If we get it wrong we will get blown away. It’s going to be a tough game, especially on their own patch.

“Their speed in defence is very quick, they’ve got a good first phase, have experience all over the place and they play with tempo. If we don’t turn up we’re going to get 40 or 50 points against us. It will be a good measuring stick for us.”

In-form Garry Law returns at fly-half for Cliffie Hodgson, while Shane Cahill comes in at loosehead prop for Ben Harris and Neale Patrick replaces club captain Sam Dickinson at lock.

Fourth-placed Doncaster face a similar barometer of their credentials when they travel to fifth-place Bedford.

The Knights have won their last five games, including a narrow defeat of Leeds on Wednesday in the B&I Cup. Only Oli Goss and Latu Makaafi survive from that starting XI as Davey fields his strongest possible squad.

Diccon Edwards welcomes back USA international Mike MacDonald to the Leeds Carnegie side to face Moseley tomorrow.

The record-breaking prop made a telling contribution off the bench last week in the win at London Scottish.

Edwards said: “They have a physical driving game and we have to counter that – it will be another really tough challenge for us.”
