Title-chasing Rhinos hit by McGuire blow

LEEDS RHINOS' superb play-off victory at Wigan Warriors has come at a cost with the news that Danny McGuire has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The influential stand-off injured knee ligaments in the Rhinos 27-26 win at the DW Stadium on Sunday night, which put defending champions Leeds to within 80 minutes of a fourth successive Grand Final.

McGuire requires surgery on the injury and will miss the remainder of the play-offs, England's Four Nations' campaign and the start of the 2011 Super League campaign.

Head of physiotherapy services at Headingley Carnegie, Meirion Jones said: "After further investigations and a consultation with our knee specialist, Mr Bollen, it has been confirmed that Danny has ruptured multiple knee ligaments which will require surgery and an extended period of rehabilitation extending into next season."
