Transfer Deadline Day: Dramatic day for Yorkshire clubs

IT'S one of the biggest days off the pitch in football - transfer deadline day. Follow all the deals here.

ROTHERHAM United chairman Tony Stewart slapped a 'not for sale' sticker on Adam Le Fondre yesterday after snubbing interest from Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town.

Le Fondre, the leading marksman in the Football League this season, has turned down the offer of a new deal with the Millers but still has 18 months to serve on his contract with the League Two club.

Stewart told Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle that the striker was not for sale after manager Lee Clark identified the 24-year-old as a possible replacement for the injured Jordan Rhodes.

"Unless a Russian billionaire came in and offered silly money, Adam is going nowhere," said Stewart last night. "We did have a call from Huddersfield but I texted their chairman back saying that Adam is not for sale.

"I also told him that, just like Huddersfield, we are going for promotion this season and he accepted that, understood my point of view, and we wished each other all the best!"

Talks with Le Fondre were put on hold two months ago but the striker has decided that his future lies away from the club.

"I'm not going to discuss a new contract, I am just going to play out my current one," said Le Fondre. "Nothing else will influence me. I'll play my hardest and see where it takes me."

On a busy final day of the transfer window, Sheffield United completed the signing of Leeds United defender Neill Collins on a two-and-a-half year deal, after cancelling the season-long loan of Kyle Bartley, who later joined Rangers on loan.

Collins, 27, is ineligible for tonight's game with Leicester City but will bring added experience during the club's fight for Championship survival.

The Blades missed out on Sunderland midfielder Andy Reid who secured an opportunity to stay in the Premier League with Blackpool.

Barnsley completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Jacob Mellis and West Ham United striker Frank Nouble on loan until the end of the season.

Doncaster Rovers signed former Birmingham City midfielder Ryan Burge from Spanish club Jerez Industrial.

Leeds were busy as five players left Elland Road and Manchester City goalkeeper David Rodriguez joined on loan for the rest of the season.

There was, however, no big-name arrival, as supporters had been hoping.

Manager Simon Grayson explained: "We will not speculate (money) on players who cannot make us better. The club has obviously speculated in the past and failed big time in that area. Whatever money I spend will be spent as if my own.

"I am not the sort to go out and blow someone's money."

Of the other deals involving Leeds players that went through, Jason Crowe joined Leyton Orient, Tom Elliott moved to Hamilton Academicals and Alan Martin was released. Left-back Fede Bessone also headed through the exit door on loan to Charlton.

United travel to Hull tonight and the home side are likely to hand a start to Cameron Stewart, who yesterday made his switch from Manchester United permanent in a 300,000 deal.

The only other transfer activity involving the Tigers on deadline day was captain Ian Ashbee moving to Preston North End, where he will be reunited with former manager Phil Brown.

The 34-year-old has signed an 18-month deal at Deepdale to bring to an end his eight-and-a-half year association with the East Riding club. He is, however, likely to be handed a quick reunion with Hull due to host Preston a week on Saturday.

Huddersfield Town have re-signed Danny Cadamarteri following his release by Dundee United. The Bradford-born 31-year-old, who spent two years with the Terriers from 2007, has been brought in to provide competition for Anthony Pilkington and Gary Roberts.

Bradford City have signed St Johnstone striker Scott Dobie on loan for the rest of the season.
