Twickenham see profits tumble

THE Rugby Football Union has revealed its profits are down more than £7m on the previous year.

Figures before tax tumbled from 9m to 1.9m with turnover also reduced by a similar number.

RFU finance director Nick Eastwood said: "Although down on a strong 2008-09, the past year was in line with expectations.

"Total revenue was 112m, which was down 7.2m, but this was mainly due to us having three instead of the four Investec Internationals and two not three RBS Six Nations home games, which meant a 7.9m decrease in ticket income."
