Twomey try brings Otley relief

Otley 42 Stourbridge 34National 1

Otley produced a scintillating display which gained them the full five points and restricted rivals Stourbridge to just one as each side scored five tries.

The visitors' front row claimed four and their No 8 got the other, all from drives by their pack.

Tthis was how Otley opened their account after 15 minutes. Stourbridge full-back Ali Bressington had missed two penalties but Otley had been looking sharp and dangerous and by way of a penalty they set up a five-metre lineout where a good drive led to prop Adam Blades scoring.

Bressington took his third chance but on 23 minutes Otley full-back Chris Georgiou came into the line to speed over.

A storming run by No 7 Richard Beck split the defence and Mark Kirkby went in on the opposite wing, No 10 James Murray converting both tries.

Otley then succumbed to pressure, prop Adam Sturdy claiming a try, Bressington converting. But just on half-time, Murray replied with a penalty.

Stourbridge captain and No 8 Ben Hughes was over within a minute of the restart and, after Murray had slotted a penalty, Sturdy added his second, Bressington's conversions taking them to within a point.

A strong run by centre Joel Gill ended with a try for winger Curtis Wilson, Stourbridge responded with a try from prop Jon Baker and, following a penalty from Murray, hooker Harry Collins took advantage of Otley having Tom O'Donnell in the sin-bin to finish another drive.

It was a relief for Otley when James Twomey dived over, Murray's kick sealing victory.
