“It was a great experience for us and it will give us a good gauge for next year,” said Londoner Stannard, whose side have since returned their attentions on their English National League campaign.

“Our ability to take care of the ball was the biggest thing from the night.

“We turned the ball over a lot and we blew a couple of easy shots that we would normally take against the guys we’re traditionally playing against.”

A crowd in excess of 650 was douible what they traditionally get and bodes well as the club look to mix it with the best in the sport in this country from the end of the summer.

“If they keep showing up then that’s great,” Stannard said of the attendance.

“I’ll just keep playing as hard as I possibly can and if the people want to keep coming and enjoying it then it’s better for us and for the city.”
