To help keep the foursome motivated, a number of through-the-night activities are planned, including live music and spectator support from both members and local students from Sheffield Hallam University.

The club is seeking sponsorship in aid of the player’s marathon efforts from its members and the general public in a bid to raise £6,960 which will enable the ChildLine Schools Service reach 580 local primary children in Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

John Mullins, head squash & racquetball coach for Hallamshire, said: “We are looking forward to a fantastic atmosphere throughout the 36 hours as we attempt to break the world record and raise as much money as possible.”

Claire Reading, NSPCC community fundraising manager, added: “We’re delighted and very grateful that the Hallamshire is supporting the GO Green day for the NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service by putting on this fantastic event. Everyone at the NSPCC wishes the team good luck for the record breaking attempt.”

The record attempt is just one of a number of GO Green fundraising events taking part in Sheffield on 20 November to help raise money for the ChildLine Schools Service, a service provided by the NSPCC, for children in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and across the UK. The ChildLine Schools Service is aimed at primary school aged children, particularly focusing on nine to 11 year olds.
