Waiting game for Bresnan of extent of stress fracture

TIM BRESNAN will discover the most likely prognosis on his foot injury when a further assessment takes place next week.

Scans have ascertained that the Yorkshire and England seamer has suffered a "stress reaction" in his left foot but "no established fracture".

Bresnan's injury came to light after England's Lord's Test victory over Bangladesh, and he was therefore made unavailable for the second and final match of the npower series - set to start at Old Trafford tomorrow.

England, who issued an update on the Yorkshireman's well-being this afternoon, have prescribed another week of rest before the injury is assessed again.

"Further scans have revealed that there is no established fracture to the left foot and that Tim Bresnan has suffered a stress reaction," the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed.

"A period of rest is required before further assessment next week, but the initial outlook is relatively positive given the early identification of the injury."
