WATCH: Daryl Powell pleased by ‘positive signs’ for Castleford Tigers in win over Leeds Rhinos

Tigers were too good for Leeds Rhinos in their 30-8 success at Headingley.

Powell conceded: “It was pretty important (winning).

“We’d lost four games on the spin and some of those were pretty close and tough.

“We could have won some of those games, but the fact remains we’d lost four straight and I was a bit nervous.

“But I thought there was some great stuff in the second half.

“It was two teams that really needed a win out there and thankfully we were good enough to get away with a win.”

Castleford led 12-2 at the break, but were a class apart in the second period and are now up to third.

Powell said: “I still think we can improve massively defensively and in some areas with the ball as well.

“But there were some positive signs and we’re getting some players back.

“We’re in the mix and if we get all our players on the field then we could still be very dangerous.”

Leeds interim coach Richard Agar believes his side are “mentally battered” as they sit just two points above bottom.

“It is a big job,” he admitted, in his second game after taking over from sacked Dave Furner.

“It’s probably important to point out that people within the group want to do something about it and care about it.

“I asked for an improved effort and I think we got that in certain areas. But our lack of quality in certain areas is hurting us badly.”

Full-back Tui Lolohea rolled his ankle in the 10th minute and Agar said: “We’re not sure on it yet, but it’s not looking promising.”
