Welsh Open backing delights Hearn
SNOOKER: Barry Hearn's impact on snooker continued yesterday with confirmation of a sponsor for the Welsh Open, which takes place in Newport next week.
The tournament, won last year by Ali Carter and a ranking event since 1992, will be known as the Totesport.com Welsh Open after the company signed an initial one-year agreement.
Hearn, who took over as chairman of World Snooker last month, said: “This is a further boost for snooker and it proves we are definitely moving in the right direction for our sport.”
