Willstrop through to second round
squash: James Willstrop negotiated a safe passage through to the second round of the North American Open in Richmond, Virginia, by defeating qualifier Yann Perrin, from France, 12-10 11-6 11-8.
The 27-year-old world No 4, from Leeds, will meet another qualifier – New Zealand’s Martin Knight – tomorrow.
World No 1 Nick Matthew, of Sheffield, enjoyed an opening triumph over USA’s Julian Illingworth on Sunday and faces Canada’s Shahier Razik tonight.
Chapel Allerton’s Alister Walker will also hope to progress to the quarter-final stages when he takes on Australia’s David Palmer in the last of tonight’s second round matches.
