Willywont eyes repeat of Charm Park victory

ROYAL Ascot winner Pevensey features among 109 entries for the Derwent Hunt point-to-point meeting at Charm Park near Scarborough on Sunday.

The first race starts at 12.30pm with the Hunt Members race which has received five entries, including Willywont, who will be looking to follow up his victory last season.

Twenty-six entries have been received for the Confined race in which Candleford will be seeking a repeat of his win at Whitcliffe Grange at the weekend.

On Holiday and Soleil D’Avril could emerge as the big threats alongside Pevensey – winner of the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes for Malton trainer John Quinn in 2007.

The consistent Drom would appear to be a live contender in the Men’s Open, but William Easterby could hold all the aces.

My Old Piano hasn’t been running up to form this season but he remains a popular horse who could well bounce back.

The Ladies Open race is sponsored by AGA and there is quality among the 21 runners.

Among them is Alfoisin who is also entered in a hunter chase during the week.

Artic Pride impressed many in his win at Duncombe Park and will be bidding for a quick follow-up while another contender is King Penda.

He has won twice in novice riders races for Shane Marriott on his two starts this season and will be looking to do the same under Emma Todd.

The Restricted race follows and Max My Boy, who ran a good race at Whitcliffe Grange, will be seeking to improve further on that performance.

Stitched Up will also be bidding for glory alongside Cauldron who has been knocking on the door.

They may have Alforone to beat – a horse who won in good style at Cottenham.

The maiden race has been split into two divisions and these races finish the day.
