Wilson in Clover on return from injury

NORTHALLERTON’S Nicola Wilson enjoyed a brilliant return to action after a broken collarbone at the weekend’s Burgham International Horse Trials.

Wilson savoured four top-six finishes from just four rides with Annie Clover leading home stablemate One Two Many in a CIC two-star class.

With Huddersfield’s world no 4 Oliver Townend third on Note Worthy, the CIC two-star produced a Yorkshire one-two-three and Wilson’s Watermill Vision was sixth in the same class for good measure.

Grafton’s James Sommerville was just behind on Talent in an excellent seventh while Wilson was also fourth on Bulana in her Open Intermediate class.

Rising star Sommerville was also second in a Novice section on Fellside Fancy Free.

Townend, meanwhile, was also fourth in the year’s first CIC three-star class on Skyhills Cavalier who is being aimed at this year’s CCI three-star at the Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials in June.

Townend’s ODT Ghareeb was eliminated in the CIC two-star with Gemma Tattersall taking victory on Chico Bella P with stable-mate Arctic Soul also third.

Richmond’s Storm Straker and Breckenbrough’s Chloe Bell performed with great credit in the Open Novice under-18, Straker third and fourth on Well Designed and William Wordsworth respectively with Bell fifth and seventh respectively with Feagh Delamain and Cavalier In A Million.

Yorkshire’s leading duo Townend and Wilson are both in action at Burnham Market this weekend, beginning tomorrow, where Wilson’s Beltane Queen leads her assault.

Townend has 15 horses entered for action, headed by Badminton CIC three-star hopeful Armada.
