Wolves join pack as race hots up for Leeds United striker

PREMIER LEAGUE Wolves are the latest club to be linked with Leeds United's wantaway striker Jermaine Beckford.

Rumours in the West Midlands suggest Mick McCarthy's club have made a bid of 300,000 plus striker Sam Vokes for Leeds's top scorer.

Championship leaders Newcastle United had a 1.25m bid turned down last week for Beckford who handed in a transfer request before the start of the January transfer window.

The Elland Road club are weighing up whether to cash in now on the 26-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, rather than allow him to leave for nothing in the summer.

Beckford has scored 74 goals in 129 games, including 20 this season.
