Ionians competed in the first half with winger Aquile Smith scoring a try and Lee Millar kicking a conversion and two penalties.

But that would be the end of their scoring and Ampthill went on to extend their lead after the break.

Two first-half penalties from David Doherty proved enough to give Harrogate a 6-3 win over Chester in National Two North.

Otley maintained their progress when a 78th-minute try by winger James Wood saw them to a 17-13 comeback win against Sheffield Tigers at Dore Moor.

In National Three North, unbeaten Huddersfield rubbed salt into Morley’s wounds with a nine-try, 67-3 home victory to keep them six league points clear.

Elliot Hodgson, Ben Morrill, Austen Thompson and Joel Hinchliffe were among the scorers in the first half and Chris Bell showed good accuracy when kicking conversions as they took a 34-3 lead by the break before pressing home their advantage in the second half.

Hull lost 30-21 to second-placed Rossendale.

The East Yorkshire side were quickly behind, but levelled the score at half-time with a penalty by Tomasi Tanumi and a try by winger Steve Hihetah. Tries by new prop Wesley Langkilde and second-row Stuart Mell put Hull 21-20 in front with 10 minutes remaining. But it was not enough as Rossendale struck back for victory.

Sandal slipped a place down to fourth despite picking up two bonus points when they were edged out 32-28 against hosts Billingham.

Cleckheaton gained five points when they won 26-22 at Firwood Waterloo to go in front of Doncaster Phoenix, who were beaten 26-7 at Kendal.

Ilkley lost at home with Cheshire rivals Lymm winning 10-3.

Sheffield took a 16-0 win over an ill-disciplined Towcestrians side and keep their narrow lead at the top of National Three Midlands.

Steve Depledge scored two first-half penalties before a try from Tobi Amemakin and a conversion and penalty from Steve Hodgson sealed the points.

Pocklington are still the leading Yorkshire side in North One East despite being pipped 
21-19 at home to Dinnington when Jonny West converted a late try by right winger Matt Shaw for the visitors.

Bradford & Bingley are now just one point behind Pocklington after their 23-12 home win over Percy Park, while Driffield are next after being beaten 18-15 by Penrith at Kelleythorpe, where the visitors scored the game’s only two tries.

Dinnington’s win at Pocklington moved them ahead of Malton & Norton, who were beaten 22-17 at home to Durham City.

Wheatley Hills missed their best chance to score their first league win of the season when they were beaten 31-10 at Guisborough, the home side collecting the only try bonus of the seven scheduled games.

In Yorkshire One, Bridlington took their winning run to 11 matches with a five-try, 36-22 win at Beverley.

Keighley moved up to second place when they won 14-5 at home to York, while West Leeds slipped when they were beaten 18-8 at Bradford Salem.

Moortown maintained their lead in Yorkshire Two with a nine-try, 60-5 home win over Grovians, while second-placed Old Rishworthians went over 15 times in their 99-0 rout at Sheffield Medicals.
