Head coach Bryan Redpath said: “I was delighted with the boys in the second half, certainly that last 60 minutes. From then on we were pretty comfortable and we just had to make sure we stuck to the simple things and what was pleasing was that we scored some simple tries and didn’t over complicate it.”

After falling behind to a penalty, Carnegie took charge with Forsyth sprinting 40 metres for the opening try.

Scrum-half Chris Pilgrim scored from a quick-tap penalty before Oli Goss got his first of the season and Forsyth scored his second of the day.

Two quick scores from England Under-20s international Taylor Prell put the result beyond doubt. The fixture also saw a welcome return for 26-year-old centre Fred Burdon after 18 months out with Achilles injuries. He assisted Walker for one of his two late tries.
