The Oaks GC's James Walker and Bedale GC's Dan Brown had a resounding 5&4 victory in the morning while Fulford GC's James Cass, on league debut, teamed with Wheatley GC's Kealan Lowe for a 2&1 win.
Three of Yorkshire's beaten foursomes pairings only succumbed at the 17th green while Rotherham GC's Jamie Harrison and Jack Lampkin (Ilkley GC) bowed at the last.
Captain Darryl Berry's lunch-time team talk helped point his side in the right direction, and England elite squad member and county champion Jamie Bower gave them the start they required with a 4&3 win in the top singles.
Walker, who next week makes his England international bow alongside Bower at Formby GC where France will be the opposition, was unable to complement his foursomes point with any singles return.
However, Berry's men then brought home full points from the next five matches via Shipley GC's Will Whiteoak, Brown, Lowe, Hornsea GC's Luke Robinson and Howley Hall GC's Ben Hutchinson.
Wheatley's Ben Brewster and Lampkin, the latter in the anchor match, halved but both needed to win the last hole of their matches to do so.
And Harrison's victory ensured overall triumph, but only after he won the last three holes to triumph one up..
Captain Berry tweeted: "Great start to the Northern Counties for @YUGCUK a close match against an experienced Cumbria @SeascaleGC #lastholedrama #nevergivein."
All three of the league matches finished 10-8, Lancashire beating Durham at Heysham GC and Cheshire triumphing over Northumberland at Close House GC.
