They did it in style, too, notching a magnificent half-century of points, including 27 on the inward run.

Another Bedale pairing, Colin Williamson and John Webster, finished second with 45pts.

They had a better back-nine total - 23 to 19 - to edge Masham GC's Neil Pickard and Leo Meaney into third place on countback. Neil Atkinson and Ray Clemmitt (Romanby GC) were fourth on 44.

Jonny, Bedale's junior coordinator, and Max opened with four consecutive birdies, contributing two apiece.

Weighell Snr added a fifth net birdie at the sixth hole and the pair had 23pts by the halfway mark.

Impressive, but nothing as compared to a back nine that included three net eagles.

At hole 10 they produced only a par, but the 11th saw a net birdie from Jonny and he topped this with a birdie two at the 154-yard par-3 12th for a net one and four points.

A par at the 12th, where he was receiving two shots, meant another four-point hole and at the 15th Max carded a birdie for a third net eagle.

Two more net birdies from Weighell Snr helped take the duo to the half-century mark.

Low Laithes GC's new junior captain Alistair Bagnall has been selected to play in the Leeds & District team for the opening match of the 2016 season against Teesside, which will be held at his home club.
