Yorkshire golf: Crow Nest Park captain leads side to victory as Headley doughty dozen raise £3,000 in Longest Day Challenge
The inaugural event had been scheduled for last year, but torrential rain led to the disappointment of an abandonment for the 18-hole Stableford event.
While this year's staging was playing in blustery winds that gave the day an autumnal feel, the sun shone and 19 teams took up the challenge.

Hide AdThe greens were lightning fast, but Greenberry, club-mate Mandy Widdop and Ogden's Van Whitehill - the first team out - accumulated 69pts, a score that would not be surpassed all day.
A dozen members of Headley took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support’s Longest Day Golf Challenge 2016.
Three teams of four - Craig Wolfenden, Andrew Rogerson, Craig Martin and Lee Ashforth; Michael Peel, Darren Moorhouse, Headley captain Mark Roberts and Robert O’Connor; and Richard Holden, Martin Carnall, Stephen Brown and Paul Shearer - set out at 5:30am to play 72 holes in one day and finished the feat in just short of 15 hours.
The weather was kind to them and their blisters, aches and pains were suffered in a good cause as they have raised over £3,000 to date.

Hide AdHessle's Captain's Weekend saw Ian Moffitt triumph with a net 71 off eight. Alan Wright produced the best gross score of 73.
The veterans' prize was won by Grahame Fieldsend (81-6-75) and John Deeming produced the best score in the past captains' category, 94-13-81, winning on a back nine count back.
Heather Muir and Eric Jones garnered the Novelty Prizes for ladies and men respectively. Muir totalled 37pts and Jones 40.
The better ball medal was won by father and son, Gavin Woodgate and Gavin Woodgate jnr, with a 62, Melvin Train and Gavin Marshall finishing just one shot back.

Hide AdJoan and Steve Fairbank took the honours in the mixed Dallas Scramble Stableford with 28pts.
Phil Scott won the Division One category (76-4-72) on a back nine count back from Paul Campbell (82-10-72).
Bob Mayes triumphed in Division Two (85-12-73) and Barry Gray (89-17-72) in Division Three on count back from Keith Ward (also 89-17-72).
