Yorkshire golf: Eagles help land Halifax-Huddersfield alliance win for Lee Shepherd and Chris Lander

LEE SHEPHERD and Chris Lander won the Halifax-Huddersfield Alliance pro-am at Crosland Heath for the second time in two years.

Shepherd, a coach at the John Letters Academy in Huddersfield, and Lander, the reigning Halifax-Huddersfield Union match play champion, amassed 43 points.

It was three fewer than their winning total in 2014, but was compiled with some impressive golf.

The pair only dropped one shot, and accumulated 21 points out and 22 coming home.

Shepherd smartened up the points tally with a brace of eagles, and Lander all but made it three, lipping out with his second shot at the par-4 eighth.

As well as the eagles, they carded five birdies.

Forty five points were required for Crow Nest Park’s Barry Seymore and Chris Atkinson to gain first place in the am-am section of the alliance.
