Boyd had been misinformed about his tee-off time and just avoided being ruled out of the Stableford event, but did incur a two-point penalty.

The competition was played as an individual Stableford, with scores aggregated for a team total, and Malton & Norton lifted the title for the first time since 2008.

Boyd's tally was added to that of club-mates Christina Rumbelow, Poppy Rudd and Lewis Stead, giving them a three-card aggregate of 104, two points clear of runners-up York.

The award for the best Individual not in the winning team was collected by Adam Copley of the host club with a superb 39.

Alfie Barlow (Easingwold) carded 38pts, a total matched by Lucy Gallacher (Pike Hills) and Fulford's Lewis West.

The Malton & Norton team will represent the York Union in the Yorkshire Inter-District Union team championship at Middlesbrough on July 10, where the winners will receive an invitation from England Golf to represent Yorkshire in the national final at Frilford Heath in August.
