A match played in excellent spirit resulted in a 5&3 victory for Shaw and Turner with a birdie from the former on the 15th hole concluding the match in style.

An exciting 3rd-4th place play-off went to extra holes in spite of Chris Sweeney having to face Ben Walker and Shaun Helliwell on his own because his partner Kevin Buck was unable to play.

Sweeney eventually succumbed after 20 holes, a tremendous performance against the odds.

The club's first medal of the year saw Colin Buzzard return a superb gross 75. It gave the seven-handicapper an excellent net 68 to win the first class section, this despite being out in the first group, which faced the worst of the day's conditions. Runner-up to Buzzard was Michael Tyas with a net 72.

The second class section was won by Mark Budby with a solid net 69, Andrew Teale taking second with a net 72.

Those Winter League participants not involved in the final matches played a better ball Stableford and Kal Shergill and Martin Ramsden prevailed with 42pts, clinching the win via a three-way count back.
