Yorkshire golf: Karen Jobling in the reckoning again in English seniors' championship

Jobling, runner-up in the English senior women’s amateur recently, carded a three-over-par 76 and trails Staffordshire’s Sue Spencer by four shots.

Spencer birdied three of her last four holes to score a one-under par 72 and edged past Derbyshire’s Lindsey Shaw, who shot level-par 73.

Also in the group on three-over 76 is Sale's Cath Rawthore, who beat Jobling in a sudden-death play-off to win the English senior women’s crown.

Hallamshire's Val Swales carded 81, her club-mate Pauline Bramley 83, and sitting in between them on 82 is Huddersfield's Pat Wrightson.

After Wednesday's second round the field will be cut to the leading 45 players and ties, who will contest the final round on Thursday.
