Yorkshire golf: Lindrick GC take top spot in 7th Division Team preliminary round

BAILEY GILL pointed Lindrick GC towards top spot in the YUGC 7th Division Team Championship preliminary round at Scarthingwell GC.

The teenager, who recently made his senior county bow for Darryl Berry's Northern Counties champions, shot 69 as Lindrick totalled 224 to win by 11 shots.

He was ably backed up by Nathan Fell, 73, and Ian Clarke, 82.

Tinsley Park GC placed second on 235 (Lloyd Betts, 79; Mark Knight, 77; Richard Dixon, 79).

Three sides finished on 239 in Ripon City (Miles Canavan, 83; Chris Brucktrout, 78; Nigel Pickard, 78), Leeds (Andrew Houlding, 84; Neil Coyne, 78; David Waite, 77) and Temple Newsam (Sam Winstanley, 75; Danny McBride, 77; Joel Fisher, 87).

Other qualifiers were Hickleton, Longley Park, Forest Park, Thirsk & Northallerton, South Bradford, Kirkbymoorisde, Cottingham Parks and Crow Nest Park.

Host club Scarthingwell missed out by one place.
