The signature par-3 hole was affected when flood waters swept away the banking, reducing the size of the hole.

With limited access to make repairs, and after exploring various options, Glyn Brown, Course Director, decided that the best solution would be to helicopter in boulders to shore up the grip line and make good the flood damage.

Boulders weighing approximately one tonne each were delivered to the club and threaded studs were drilled and then cemented into place.

PDG Helicopters were contracted to lift each rock to the site and place them strategically in the river bed, infilled with smaller rocks also flown to the site.

Brown said: “It was devastating to see the damage to our signature hole so it’s been very rewarding working to repair the damage and shore up the river banking in the hope that we can prevent this happening in the future.

“The access to the site limited our options and so flying in the boulders seemed the most practical and effective solution. PDG Helicopters specialise in this sort of work so it was great that they could ferry the boulders into position and once the wall has settled we can then complete the project.”
