Yorkshire golf: Rochelle Morris and Olivia Winning shoot 75 on day one of Spanish Amateur championship

WOODSOME Hall's Rochelle Morris and Rotherham's Olivia Winning both shot 75 to stand six shots back of the first-round leader in the Spanish Amateur championship, at Club de Golf Escorpion, in Valencia.

Morris fell to three over par after eight holes, compounding a dropped shot at hole six with a double bogey at the par-3 eighth.

She showed great resilience to retrieve all three shots in the space of four holes by birdieing the 10th, 12th and 13th.

However, another double bogey followed at 14 and she parred in for her 75.

Winning began with a bogey and then, like Morris, also double bogeyed the eighth. A pair of birdies at 12 and 13 sandwiched a second bogey of the round at 13, and she ended the day as she had begun it, with a dropped shot. She and Morris are tied in 31st place.

Sweden's Linn Grant leads the way with a three-under-par 69.

James Walker (The Oaks) leads the Yorkshire challenge in the Spanish International Amateur at RCG Sevilla following an opening round of 70.

He is tied fifth while two shots further back, sharing 19th place, is Hull's Steve Robins.

Bedale's Dan Brown is in equal 45th spot after a 74 and Lindrick's Jonathan Thomson carded a 77 and is in a share of 80th place.

Wales' Owen Edwards leads following a 66.
