A further try from Steve Mellonby and a brace from Regan Stirk put the seaside town 24-0 up and by the time Eccles were awarded a penalty try, the fixture was all but over.

Although Eccles did run in two tries as the clock ran down, Bridlington looked comfortable. Their next opponents in the competition will be Coalville.

Selby overwhelmed Trafford MV 52-5 in the North final of the RFU Senior Vase. Full-back Dan Porter scored two tries and kicked four conversions and a penalty.

Other tries came from Martin Protherough, Ben Booth, Alex Webster, Ian Adamson, Charlton McCoy and a penalty try.

In the RFU Junior Vase North final, Baildon won 26-24 at Manchester Medics.

Second-row Phil Wilson and winger JJ O’Connell touched down, and Jake Duxbury kicked both conversions and four penalties.

Aireborough brushed aside York Railway Institute as scrum-half Oliver Catherall and No 8 Christopher Blackshaw both scored hat-tricks in the Yorkshire Three game.

York particularly struggled to contain Aireborough on the flanks and, as a result, most of the home side’s tries came from the wings.

The injuries started to rack up for York later on and with their props out of action, scrums went uncontested.

Aireborough dominated proceedings from start to finish and scored 11 tries on their way to a 61-0 win.

But York sparked into life and as their forwards showed more determination and strength, they went on to win 36-22.

The scoring was led by winger Billy Cakaunitabua who bagged a brace with Chris Fox and Matt Dudman also getting in on the act.
