Yorkshire has plenty to offer this weekend, whether you are a fan of the arts and books or music and social events. There is so much choice that it can be difficult to pinpoint where to go. Here, we give you a taster by picking out four events…
York Book Fair - York Racecourse’s Knavesmire Suite
This event, on Saturday, brands itself as the UK’s largest one-day book fair. There are more than 100 dealers, whose goods include prints, maps and collectable items. You can also expect to find rare and second-hand books on a variety of subjects, with refreshments available too.
Brew-denell Beer and Ale Festival - Brudenell Social Club
The weekend festival will feature some of the best small breweries in the UK and also special imported ales. There will be more than fifty different ales - with entertainment and food on offer. The event was set up to highlight the quality and forward-thinking in independent craft brewing.
Jazz and Poetry - Inkwell Arts
An afternoon of poetry, jazz and blues awaits here on Sunday. Rommi Smith, who has written and performed extensively across BBC radio, and Siobhan MacMahon will provide the poetry and voices. Dave Evans is on keyboard and Kenny Higgins on bass.
British Art Show 8 - Leeds Art Gallery
The show provides an overview of exciting contemporary art. The curators, Anna Colin and Lydia Yee, have selected the work of 42 artists. A central concern is the changing role and status of the physical object in an increasingly digital age.
