Proof, if needed, that the more mature woman is very much in vogue comes with the news this week that Isabella Rossellini is back as the face of Lancome at the age of 63, after a break of almost 20 years.

Rossellini became the very first face of Lancome back in 1983 and remained its ambassador for 14 years. Now she will become the brand’s latest spokesmodel, sharing her opinions, advice and beauty tips.

“Isabella embodies the idea of an accomplished beauty that is synonymous with well-being,” says Lancome general manager Francoise Lehmann, adding: “She also maintains a very positive, serene attitude to age, which she experiences as self-affirming.”

Rossellini, famously the actress/model daughter of Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and Italian film director Roberto Rossellini, recently starred in the film Joy by David O Russell. She says she is thrilled to be back with the brand, adding that she is “well aware that this decision goes well beyond me”.

There are no brand images as yet of Rossellini as the new Lancome muse, but they will be coming soon to a counter near you, so look out for them.
