JOIN IN: Upload your own content, whether it’s videos of you dancing, photos of your artwork or activities you’ve created yourself – join in the fun on social media using hashtags #BarnsleySpirit and #BeatTheBoredom.

The new #BeatTheBoredom event portal, on the council’s Facebook page, features a raft of online activities to help keep families entertained during lockdown.

It’s a collaboration between different council services to create a digital offer and replace activities that have either had to be cancelled or postponed.

Activities includes Barnsley Museums’ online jigsaws showcasing the town’s art, history, buildings, landscapes and famous faces.

There are films, 360 virtual tours, poetry from Ian McMillan, family activities, nature sessions, blogs, vlogs and more.

Barnsley Libraries are also hosting a virtual library, so you can enjoy activities including digital story-time, Lego Club, Code Club and other activities to keep you inspired at home.

Meanwhile, the town centre events team – the team behind Dancing Town, Barnsley’s Big Weekend and Barnsley Bright Nights - are delivering virtual dance workshops including cheerleading, as well as comedy sketches and create your own art workshops.
