“You and we together can get this man Hitler” declared Lord halifax, British Ambassador in Washington in a speech to Boston industrial and business leaders today.

“We must walk hand in hand and side by side in political, financial and economic policy” he said.

“Be the way short or long, the combination of industrial power and sea power is going to be decisive.

Torpedoed Five Times

A witness in Hull Police Court yesterday when asked what occupation her husband followed said he was a marine engineer and added

“He has been torpedoed in five different ships.”

“A remarkable record” commented the Stipendiary Magistrate Mr. J. R. Macdonald.

Fall Through Glass Roof

A choir boy. Raymond Milbura (12), of Waterloo Road, Hunslet, was taken hospital last night suffering from concussion and head and shoulder injuries after he had fallen through the glass roof of Hunslet Parish Church school. It Is understood that he had climbed on to the roof retrieve a ball.

His 27th Rescue

To a list of 26 he had already saved from drowning, Mr. Herbert Pashler, a Stamford school swimming instructor, yesterday added another.

Two soldiers were bathing in the River Welland at Stamford when one of them, a rather poor swimmer, got out of his depth.

His companion dived in to his rescue, but was dragged below.

Mr. Pashler got the would-be rescuer to his feet, and between them they brought the drowning man to the bank, where artificial respiration restored him to consciousness.
