Women's Land Army: Mr. R. S. Hudson at Yorkshire Rally

Mr. R. S. Hudson, Minister for Agriculture, was present at a rally of the Women’s Land Army here yesterday.

Some 300 members from all parts of Yorkshire attended, and the presentation at the Allertonshlre Senior School of special “diamond“ badges to members for every six months of service was preceded by a procession from the centre the town.

In their green Jumpers and corduroy breeches, the women, marching three abreast to the beat of the drums, made a striking picture.

Katharine Lady Graham (Chairman of the Yorkshire County Committee) presided at the informal meeting at which Mr. Hudson presented the badges.

In the evening Katharine Lady Graham addressed members and paid a tribute to the great national service they were doing in assisting in the production of food.
