Ban on Titbits for Racehorses

To prevent the public from feeding the horses, grilles are being fitted to the doors of the horseboxes at Doncaster racecourse.

The grilles will allow the upper door flaps to he opened without anyone being able to reach the horses from outside.

Travelling sprinklers have been Installed for watering the course. It is believed they will ensure that the going for the September meeting is as good possible.

The St. Leger on September 9 will again be broadcast. The Princess Royal is to attend on all four days of the meeting and the Royal Box has been placed at her disposal.

This year the addition of two preliminary parade rings for the yearling sales at Glasgow Paddocks will give greater safety than the unrestricted parading of animals and should end the spectacle of runaways galloping across the paddock with stable boys In pursuit.

More than 2,500 entries have been received for the meeting. Every horsebox - there are over 370 of them - has been taken and Tattersall’s have declared their catalogues complete.
